"Connatural" is an evocative and contemplative experience designed for the DragonO2, one of the world's premiere volumetric LED systems crafted by LedPulse. Our intent was to design a journey that encapsulated 135 years of the iconic El Palacio de Hierro's rich legacy, intertwining it with their forward-thinking by providing spectators with a novel and immersive insight into the brand’s historical heritage.
El Palacio de Hierro is more than just a department store in Mexico, it's an institution. With 135 years under its belt, it has been part of different epochs and trends. Our task was to encapsulate this remarkable legacy and the store's future vision into a contemplative volumetric LED display experience, one of the most advanced systems available in the world.
Our inspiration was the confluence of El Palacio de Hierro's long-standing heritage with key moments in Mexican history. The brand's enduring tagline, "Soy Totalmente Palacio," not just signifies its stature in fashion and lifestyle but resonates deeply with many generations. We envisioned a harmonious organic collection of symbolic objects, representing both El Palacio de Hierro's history and its future, seamlessly converging and diverging in the vast timeline of its existence.
We undertook a meticulous journey through El Palacio de Hierro's historical archives, noting products, designs, and campaigns that resonated with pivotal moments in Mexican history. Comprehending the DragonO2 technical specifications was essential, ensuring our visuals would be optimized for the unique volumetric display. Our ambition was to ensure historical accuracy, technical optimization, and emotional resonance.
Beginning with storyboarding, our team outlined the progression of the experience. Harnessing the power of Cinema 4D, Blender, Houdini, TouchDesigner and Unreal Engine we breathed life into 3D animations that would tell our story. The harmony of these animations was pivotal, given the DragonO2 complex framework. TouchDesigner was instrumental in rendering, while the final finesse was added using professional video editing software during post-production.
The culmination was a breathtaking, contemplative 3D voyage that transported viewers across 135 years of fashion, architecture, and lifestyle, emblematic of El Palacio de Hierro's legacy. The intricate narrative of history and modernity was on full display, creating an immersive audio-visual experience that left spectators in awe of El Palacio de Hierro's rich past and promising future.
